Taber 5135/5155 Single and Double Disc Rotary Abrator

The Taber Rotary Abraser 5135/5155 is operated by individual keys for each dial.

Taber Abrasives are available in two models - single or dual disc. Both offer the same durable design and can be used interchangeably.

The 5135 is a single disc.

TABER Abrator -5155 (115/230V; 60/50 Hz)

The 5155 has two test turntables, allowing simultaneous testing of two samples (testing of two different or identical samples for comparison). Each turntable is operated by an independent keypad.

The Tabor test method is as follows. A square or round flat sample of 100 mm in size is mounted on a rotatable platform with a fixed platform speed. The thickness of the sample material is 6.34 mm thick (materials larger than 6.35 mm but smaller than 40 mm are tested using an optional accessory). Two original TABER abrasive wheels are pressed onto the sample surface under a specific pressure.

As the turntable rotates, the sample-driven abrasive wheels turn in opposite directions from the tangential direction of the sample's axis. One abrasive wheel rotates outward and the other inward. At the same time, the particles generated by friction are sucked away by a vacuum cleaner. The wheels grind a complete circle on the surface of the sample, demonstrating the wear resistance of the material from all angles. The area of the ring pattern produced by friction is approximately 30 square centimeters.

Each rotor has two precisely balanced abrasive arms. Lifted independently to mount or inspect samples. Each arm is precision balanced to provide 250 grams of pressure, excluding the weight of the abrasive wheel. Pressure can be increased to 500 or 1000 grams with additional weights, or balanced weights can be installed to make the pressure smaller (use 50, 125, 150 or 175 gram weights).

The Tabor 5135 and 5155 have the following features.

1. Sample rotation speed of 60 rpm at 72 rpm is optional.

2. Easy to use operating interface, touch key operation, LCD digital display. Through the screen menu can modify the test parameters. Internal storage of set parameters.

3. Equipped with vacuum suction device. The height of the suction nozzle is adjustable to accommodate samples of different thicknesses.

4. Stainless steel weights are polished to provide a standard load of 500 or 1000 grams. The actual weight on the weight is 250 or 750 grams, marked as the weight of the load, including the grinding arm (250 grams), of the weight.

5. Quick release mounting hub allows for quick installation of the abrasive wheel without the need for a lock nut

6. Aluminum housing.
