One of the funniest films of all-time, Man With a Van is a hilarious sequel to the financial disaster Argyll as well as Costello's Christmas masterpiece It's a Wonderful Life. It's a comedy with the same inscrutable American innocence that defined the latter movie, Russell Brand plays the Van Man, the eponymous Van Man, a man who travels back to present-day New York City, where the man falls in love with a young woman who works in a theater. However, instead of helping her, he chooses to go off with her in order to help save his struggling enterprise... But are they able to save their own marriage and if they do, will Van Man destroy his family and livelihood in the process? When you imagine Michael Caine, you probably think of the actor in his iconic sequences in A Few Good Men, where he plays a bad guy who's about to get executed by the authorities. In Man With a Van, however, Caine plays Robert "Bob" Wurzelbacher, a shrewd former truck driver who knows what it's like to manage people's possessions as well as the Van Man himself. As the film progresses, we learn more about the peculiar man who ends up having an enjoyable time doing it. He even ends up getting away with his cousin, after being told authorities are looking to inspect his trucks. When two moving trucks who are from the other side of the country decide to make a stop at his home, things go from bad to worse.Brand plays the role of the one man who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty - literally. After letting two moving companies take a swift escape from his home Brand is given his own truck to do the rest of the work. The two movers are impressed by his capacity to finish the job quickly and easily, even allowing the two trucks he employs for the move to violate some laws (one being related to the size of the front of his vehicles). When they agree to help him out, Bob realizes that he has more happening throughout his day than he believed. However, despite all that, he's still committed to helping people and making life easier for others.Meanwhile, a disturbed little girl called Beth has a difficult transitioning to her new life. She's constantly getting picked on, but she's also very disoriented about her experiences and what she's likely to become in this new city. She shares with her family the story of moving into Man With a Van, but they doubt her tales and soon she becomes frightened of the town. Two movers from earlier come to help her out of a jam when they discover Bob's involvement in the moving. They end up saving Beth and making Beth feel at ease in her new place.Eventually, Bob develops feelings for the local girl. Beth starts working with him and they fall in love. Then the unthinkable happens, which puts their love on the back burner after Bob is fired from his position at news corporation.I would definitely recommend this book if you're someone who has had a similar experience like Bob. It's an excellent read due to the fact that it's realistic and real. It's not a romantic tale like most books, but it's filled with adventures and great lessons. Man and Van 's not your usual thrilling experience either. There aren't any cute sidekicks, or excessive twists.I'd suggest this book to those who likes humorous situations and who likes thrilling plots. If that sounds like the case, then this is surely a book worth taking the time to read. My personal favorite was the moment the time that Bob and Beth made the decision to live in the van of one of their mutual friends. The entire experience made me laugh out loud numerous times. I also think the storyline was catchy. I had no issues with the plot or the characters and I was captivated from start to finish.Overall, this was a great book. It's realistic and I think that people would recommend it. Anyone who loves to travel, like adventure, and simply want to see how other people deal with life in a humorous kind of way must definitely check out Man With a Van by Paul Therien. It's a quick enjoyable read that has a great storyline.
