Rotary dry and wet rubbing color fastness tester
AATCC Dry and Wet Rubbing Color Fastness Tester is a testing instrument of the American Association of Textile Chemists and dyers. The crocking tester tests the ability of a fabric to transfer color from the surface of a material to other materials under dry and wet rubbing conditions. In addition to performing color transfer tests, the instrument can perform abrasion, dry/wet rubbing, flex, chalking, dry cleaning, grinding, and other tests. Standard pressure and motion are used for the specimen to ensure that the condition of the specimen is controlled and reproducible.
There are three models of electric and manual, rotary rubbing fastness testers: traditional manual rubbing colorfastness tester CSI238AA, electric rubbing colorfastness tester CSI238BB, manual rotary rubbing colorfastness tester CSI238EE. The Colorfastness to Crock Tester complies with the following test standards, as well as other industry and organizational test methods.
CSI238AA/CSI238BB
CSI238CC: CSI238EE:
AATCC 8 AATCC 116
AATCC 165 ISO 105-X16
ASTM F1329

Adjust stroke length
The friction path or stroke length of the friction head back and forth can be adjusted to 50, 76 or 104 mm (2, 3 or 4 inches) to suit the size of the specimen. The adjustment of the stroke length is shown in Figure 2, and is carried out according to the following steps.
Unplug the instrument hand from the power supply.
Loosen the guard's thumb screw on the reciprocating arm and raise the guard. This procedure does not require removing the screws.
Use a flat-blade screwdriver to connect the drive arm to the crank screw. Pay attention to the positioning of the washers, the washers maintain a certain distance from the drive arm to the crank. Move the drive arm to the proper position and then tighten the screw.
Reinstall the shield and tighten the thumbscrews.
Setup and reset of digital counters
CSI238E operation method
The CSI238E is a manually operated instrument with a reciprocating rotating test head, which is mainly used to test small areas of printing on fabrics. Using a standard weight, a friction head with a diameter of 16 mm was brought into contact with the surface of the sample and applied a pressure of 11.1 N to it. When the operator turns the handle in the same direction, the friction head first rotates 1.125 circles clockwise and then counterclockwise. The specimen is held in place during the test by applying pressure and installing sandpaper on the base of the instrument. The upper end of the instrument can be tilted upward along the base to facilitate the installation and removal of samples.
CSI238AA and CSI238BB optional
We offer a full line of interchangeable friction heads and friction arms to meet the test methods of various industries and organizations. Common friction heads and friction arms are listed below.
